A Project by Zeke
Apple releases come out a few times every year and I recall a rumor about how every time Apple announces or releases a new product, Apple stock would take a dive because everyone is just really unimpressed with Apple products nowadays. So I thought it would be interesting to study this generalization by looking at Apple stock trends and comparing them to their dates of releases and announcements to see if this rumor is true or false.
Data
My data is a compilation of Apple stock trends and the dates of Apple product announcements and releases. The first data set, of the AAPL stock prices daily, was available on Kaggle. The second data set of the Apple products list and their corresponding announcement and release dates had to be manually compiled. My data focuses on the duration of 2019 till 2021 because it’s within the covid era and it might show whether covid affected the product design during this period as well. Looking at the data, we'd be able to determine if there really is a correlation between the stock performance and product popularity.
Artefact
The artefact is based on explorations with a broader perspective in mind. The data that I have collected is related to the Apple events, the performance of the products during these announcements, releases and their correlation to the AAPL stock performance. With a focus on Apple events, I did a little more research on the visuals that they used to market the events. These headers always prominently feature the Apple logo in various settings. So this page will showcase my take on exploring and creating an Apple event header through the different time periods of Apple for an Augmented Reality (AR) experience.
